This is the debut release of young Ethiopian pianist. After music school in Addis Ababa, Yirga has gone on to become one of the great young talents of his country. Experimenting with American jazz, Latin music, the traditional songs and sounds of Ethiopian music and the more modern Ethiojazz that has brought his country's music to international attention, Guzo is both bold and sensitive. The album explores the traditional musical history of his homeland, ventures into big-band brass ensembles, moves through classic soul and funk, and finally simmers with his deeply impassioned piano solos.
